Gov. Brewer gives Obama a finger

Gotta love Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

The tough-on-immigration governor got a little animated Wednesday in talking to President Barack Obama after he arrived at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

She got up close to the president and shoved her right index finger in Obama’s face.

For Republicans, it’s only the latest example of how they want to publicly disrespect the president. Expect this image to get plenty of “atta-girls” from GOP supporters.

For Democrats, the photo will be circulated to get their blood boiling, that someone like the odd governor of Arizona would disrespect the office of the president.

Here’s the reason behind the pointed finger, essentially having something to do with how Brewer felt Obama was condescending to her during an earlier meeting at the White House. Now she reportedly wants to talk to him again.

Yes, governor, and getting uppity with the president was exactly the right thing to do to get yourself invited to another meeting. Not.

Really? What has she gained except a photo opportunity? Will it change anything for her state, for her?

It’s a pitty they didn’t have sound with the video since there’s a disagreement on who said what to whom. Still, both sides will use it to sqweeze some dough out of the faithful.

Yael…your are wrong on a number of levels here.

First of all, your headline is wrong. She did not give him the “finger”. Yes, I know it was an attempt at humor, but there are people who only scan the headlines. That is all they will read. You know that, Yael. A person in your position should be better than that.

Secondly, you need to go back and read your source document that you linking to your blog. When you say that the issue was that Brewer took umbrage at Obama’s condescension during a prior meeting, you are flat out wrong. You presented the facts backwards. The article you referenced is abundantly clear. The issue at hand was how Obama got of the plane and took umbrage with Brewer for how she portrayed that meeting. It was Obama that got the ball rolling in this spat, Yael. How could you not get that from reading the article? You turned the facts around to make Brewer look bad. Again, Yael, you should be better than that.

Thirdly, there are many people who would be branded as sexist for branding a woman as “uppity”. Carefully selected word? Or, carelessness? Once, again, you should be better than that.

A perfectly fair and accurate set of criticisms from Mr Mueller, IMO.

He opines that YT should be better than he displays…..and I genuinely believe that he is better….but he gets too clever by half in his interpretations gathered through a naturally clouded lens. He seems unwilling to ever retreat from or alter a position when facts prove it to be wrong.

He’s human. He’s proud. he’s stubborn. He’s wrong alot. He lives and loves to be a “pot stirrer.” He puts it out there all the time and is essentially a hard working, opinionated liberal who forthrightly believes (falsely) his is a centrist opinion.

Once again it shows how much lack of respect, President Obama has to deal with. No way would she have got in Clinton or Bush’s face like that! Being called a liar by Senator’s, having every policy opposed, regardless of the policy, it’s sad that these so called leaders of ours haven’t realized, THE WORLD IS WATCHING!!! If you can’t respect this President, WHY SHOULD THE WORLD RESPECT THE NEXT?

Mr Garrett: I respect your opinion though I confess to having a great deal of difficulty understanding how it was formed. Obama has been openly critical of governor Brewer and it certainly appears likely that he initiated the contentiousness evidenced by her finger wagging.

President Obama is owed all the respect that the office should and does command. His policies command absolutely NO RESPECT, IMO. His policies support and protect the collective rather than the individual. That is extra constitutional and not in our best interests.

Secret service should have attacked her like in a Betty White commercial.

It appears to me that she is disrespecting the man not the office. They are not one and the same. On an individual level, respect has to be earned not simply given. The man has failed in his efforts to earn respect. The office has never failed in that regard.

Like others I question your use of the word “uppity”. You can speak plainer than that. What exactly are you trying to say?

I’m sure this will win her big kudos with her Tea-Party friends, but in the long run, this will hurt Republicans as much as the other party. If they can’t respect the President when he’s a Democrat, will they accept disrespect to the President if one day there’s a Republican in the White House again?

Jimmy, are you so young as to not remember the huge disrespect shown to Bush by the Democrats, both elected and in the press?

I am all for civility, which is why it was inappropriate for Obama to use the airport greeting to lay in the Governor of Arizona for what she had written in a book. A little thin-skinned are we? I also criticize Obama for walking away in mid-sentence from the host Governor who had met him at the airport. That’s simply rude. My high school sons know not to do that.

TAXPAYERS ARE THE PAYEE FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS

It’s not condescending, but if you came to America by whatever means without permission of the People via the US government, you are violating this country’s sovereignty rights? I doubt if there is any country on Mother Earth, where you would not be imprisoned or immediately deported? Mexican laws have very strict statutes, that illegal entry is punishable as a Felony. Congress and being owned by special interests money doesn’t impose a felony. It’s a walk away “slap-on-the-hand punishment and then unless it’s a second entry after deportation, you can now walk away from being incarcerated—thanks to the executive order from President Obama. Life has been made so easy for foreign nationals, which they can even demonstrate in the streets, demanding rights without any recourse from ICE? They shouldn’t even be here, but they are able to ride the welfare programs through a poor interpretation of the 14th Amendment. People come from every hemisphere after waiting years for a visa, but others steel in disguised as a tourist with unborn babies or just steal across our perforated border fence. Then they go about stealing somebody’s Identification to get a job, procure that persons credit.

Our once praiseworthy schools are now poorly recognized for performance, as they were 30 years ago. The top State for education originated in California and now it is somewhere around the bottom of the barrel. Millions who swarmed into Los Angeles County have turned it into miles of poverty stricken neighborhoods, without any countermeasures from the immigration police. Hospitals are hurting from unpaid treatments and Border States saw many of these institutions go bankrupt—another good example of unfunded mandates. Prez Obama is on hunt for more votes in 2012, so it makes major sense to fly off to Nevada, heavily populated with illegal aliens and a very poor set of voting regulations. Every American must be involved to oversee the outcome of every precinct and the value of Absentee Ballots that are easily forged. How can the United States government expect to support, the senior citizens, along with veterans, homeless and infirm citizens, when they are subsidizing 440 000 illegal alien infants annually. Why patriotic Americans who speak up for themselves should, be forced to feel guilty or defend their stance on illegal immigration. The Tea Party doesn’t—that for sure, and rigidly holds the line on another blanket amnesty, sanctuary city policies, and dream acts, family chain migration or any other law, which eventually falls to the taxpayers in supporting unfunded mandates.

Turnaround is fair play. Lived with it for 8 years as it was given to Bush. If you can’t handle the heat, get outta the kitchen.

Do you guys have to protect Obama every minute of the day? You libs are as thinned skinned as he is.

Yael, I just noticed that you described the governor as odd. Odd? Please explain?
