The early Friday shootings in Aurora, Colo., during the Batman sequel “The Dark Knight Rises” killed 12 people and injured at least 59 more.

Herewith a short list of the potential outcomes of this massacre:

  • It will not lead to stricter gun laws. Too bad. But that’s what all the facts indicate right now, stripped of emotion.

  • It will force AMC and other movie theater operators, movie fans and police to be on heightened alert in the days ahead.

  • It will not stop the glorifying of violence in movies or television.

  • The Dark Knight Rises” likely will be a mega-hit, albeit always linked to the shooting deaths of Friday morning.

  • It will be dissected by the right and the left for any kind of political messages. ABC News has already gone down this rat hole.

YT, you did not expand on the FACT that ABC News specifically NAMED a TeaParty member as the shooter…..

Too bad that none of the theater patrons were armed. It would have saved lives.

OK,we all know WHY this guy did this: He’s nuts!!! DUH!!!

And there is no fool-proof way to tell that a guy like this is a ticking time bomb. Under stress? So is every guy in his class — none of whom dressed up like a comic villian and murdered a dozen innocent people and wounded another 60.

The issue for the adults in the room is not WHY but HOW. You can’t be sure to catch crazy guy before he acts, but even smart crazy guy with a knife or bat maybe kills one or two. The HOW of a massacre is in the GUNS.

Multiple, semi-automatic guns with extended clips of high-powered bullets. (Some of the wounded were in the NEXT theater!.) An individual needs such an armory for what lawful purpose? Planning to have a firefight with that deer or turkey next hunting trip? Want ammo with the ability to shoot THROUGH the tree to nail Bambi? Or waiting for that “home invasion” by an army large enough that a mere shotgun won’t discourage them?

All this blood is on the hands of the NRA and the cowards of both parties who have yielded to its threats.

    The Batman Massacre”

    Dark Knight Massacre”

Headline writers and columnist scrambling to come up the most sensationalistic tag to a terrible tragedy.

Ok so let me see if I understand this. Some of you think it is ok that this guy found it easy to obtain an AK-47 assault rifle? You don’t think the federal government should attempt, in any way, to make it more difficult to walk into a theater and open up on an innocent crowd? If you argue against legislation that would make that more difficult, then I can’t help but think you are advocating the use of them in just this way. That assault rifle last night did exactly what it was designed to do.
