All-American spirit as concrete as ever

It’s good to live in a country that refuses to let the destructive forces of others impair its spirit and development.

One World Trade Center stands out as a shining example. The building, which will replace the twin towers in New York City, on Monday became that town’s tallest skyscraper, reaching 1,250 feet. The structure replaces the towers that were destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack, which led to first one war in Afghanistan and then another in Iraq.

When the new building is done in another year, it will be the tallest in the United States and the third tallest in the world, reaching a symbolic height of 1,776 feet.

This is the can-do America that I know and will always love, which towers over the racism, the hatred and wars that have marred this country’s history. Building together always is the better way.
