Akin v. McCaskill, Round VII: Both are very wrong on obesity solutions
Both Todd Akin and Claire McCaskill got it wrong by saying the government should stay out of trying to solve America’s very real obesity problem.
What!?
The increasing obesity rates are costing U.S. taxpayers hundreds of billiions of dollars in extra health care costs through the Medicaid and Medicare plans.
In addition, the problem of obesity is hurting American consumers. The more money they spend on health care problems caused by obesity, the less they have to spend on other items.
Bad performance by both candidates on this crucial question, especially by McCaskill, who wanted to tap into the anti-government feelings on this question.
