Akin v. McCaskill, Round IV: Claire has Medicare plan, Todd doesn't
Look, Medicare is a huge problem, and the real answer requires some cuts and some changes in coverage.
But no one is going there in today’s debate.
Still, McCaskill crushes Akin by pointing out that he really doesn’t have a plan to improve Medicare. Privatizing isn’t an answer; if that really worked, private medical care of other Americans would be working great.
It’s not.
McCaskill wins this round.

7 months, 4 weeks agoWe currently have private Medicare companies, competing with each other and Medicare. They are costing taxpayers 14% more than regular Medicare. How are they a solution? Akin says competition will reduce premiums. Really? Republican (including Akin?) voted in 2008 to increase the percentage we are paying private Medicare Advantage to 18% more than Medicare.
