Claire McCaskill trots out her canned responses when the rape question comes up about Todd Akin.

But it works to her advantage: She wants to paint Akin, over and over again, as someone who is way too far to the right for Missouri.

So Akin is out-to-lunch on his opposition to free and reduced lunches, to privatizing Social Security and to cutting Medicare.

Akin’s response: Federal government can’t be everywhere and counted on to do everything.
