Akin, still in the race and still clueless
The Kansas City Star
(Update: In a radio interview with Sean Hannity this afternoon, Akin finally admitted he was wrong about rape victims not getting pregnant.
“It is quite clear that people get pregnant from rape and it is a horrible thing,” he said. “I was medically wrong on that.”
Not only is Todd Akin apparently not withdrawing from Missouri’s U.S. Senate race, he isn’t backing down from his assertion that the trauma of rape will shut down a woman’s reproductive processes and shield against pregnancy.
“I misspoke one word in one sentence on one day,” Akin said a few moments ago on Mike Huckabee’s radio show.
That word would be “legitimate,” as in “legitimate rape.” Akin now prefers “forcible rape,” as in “forcible rape rarely causes pregnancy.”
Totally wrong. Totally clueless.
