A plea to President Obama
President Obama is scheduled to speak shortly. Mr President, you have your second term. How many more times can you address the families and loved ones who’ve lost people to gun violence? How much sympathy can you offer to mass shooting victims and continue to do nothing? To hunt or defend one’s home, no one needs more than a manual action long gun. You have to be able to look these people in the eye and know you did something to prevent the next tragedy. Don’t you?

Sure, the great majority of NRA members are reasonable and responsible gun owners and hunters. And, the NRA itself was a strong supporter of gun control laws until its leadership got co-opted by a bunch of right-wing nuts who saw a way to make a buck out of peddling fear and lobbying for the gun industry. The NRA has done a great job of lying to its members and intimidating legislators.
And its many sane members bear the blame for allowing the organization they support to become an accessory to the murder of children. It is time for them to do something to wash the blood from their hands.

5 months agoMy God how many of these tragedies do we have t endure before politicians grow some balls and stand up to the gun crazies. I’m not talking about sportsmen and responsible gun owners. I own guns but my manhood isn’t defined by them like it is for the most strident gun nuts. We need to act now.

5 months agoI see the libs are at it as usual, wrong solutions for the wrong problems. The breakdown of the family is a major reason for crime in our society. Obama and Holder did their best to destroy the Second Amendment with Fast and Furious. Don’t they get any credit for that? Lib “solution” for Poverty, the Great Society “War on Poverty.” A near total disaster that has wrecked and enslaved generations. Lib “solution” to health care for the uninsured, Medicare, Medicaid and now Obamacare. Medicare and Medicaid cost a trillion a year, and the unfunded liability for those programs and another lib nightmare, Social Security, is well over 100 trillion. Obamacare will finish off the job of destroying our once great health care system, and will break the bank as well. Destroy the health care system for 310 million because 8-10 million need health insurance. You can’t make this up. Now the libs again tell us that the answer to the mass shooting epedemic is more gun control. No, but an actual answer is a return to Faith, family, and morals, emphasizing right and wrong. (Oh those simpleton conservatives, don’t they know that answers have to be complicated so that only “intellectuals” can come up with “solutions.”) Thank you Mark Robertson Independence
