Red must be a bad color for football.

For the first half of the Super Bowl on Sunday, the 49ers, who were favored to win, stank up the Superdome in New Orleans as if the team were the Kansas City Chiefs.

The lights going out in the stadium, delaying the game for 34 minutes, was probably the best thing that could have happened to the 49ers. The team emerged from the near darkness and started to play some professional football.

But it wasn’t enough. The Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII.

The Chiefs color red may indeed be the culprit.
