2 honored at MORE2 banquet
Rex Archer and Nelson L. “Fuzzy” Thompson received much deserved awards Thursday night at a banquet in Kansas City, Kan.
Archer, director of the Kansas City Health Department, and Thompson, longtime president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of Greater Kansas City, were honored at the Seventh Annual Imagine Banquet of the Metro Organization for Racial and Economic Equality. They were named the MORE2 Equity Partners of the Year.
Notable during the evening was Thompson, who had been ill, rose from a wheelchair to thank MORE2 and address the audience.
The dinner at the Jack Reardon Convention Center in downtown Kansas City, Kan., drew hundreds of attendees from area church, civic, business and social service organizations. MORE2 unites faith-based groups to push for equity in jobs, education, health care and other aspects of life in the Kansas City area.
The organization’s new executive director, Lora McDonald, also was introduced with promises for another dynamic year in MORE2’s push for equality.
