Funkhouser: We have 'second-level cops' at KCI

Walking, biking, taking public transit and driving less are all possible ways to save money on transportation. Now another option is on the rise — scooters.

With their relatively low cost (less than half the price of a cheap new car) and great mileage (more than 60 mpg on average), they offer an excellent alternative to the car, at least on city streets in fair weather.

Thursday editorial: KC spirit attracts conventions

With first-class attractions, friendly smiles and a can-do spirit, Kansas City demonstrated in recent days that it can wow convention visitors.

Even while talk continues about subsidizing a 1,000-room hotel to entice large gatherings, Kansas City is doing very well in meeting the needs of more modest conventions.
