Needed: A President of All the People

I completely agree with the letter appearing in this morning's Star written by Gerald Skillicorn titled, "President Must Unite, Not Fight". I wish I had written it.

His characterization of Hillary Clinton as simply "one who would fight for her constituency" is spot on and illustrates a larger point. We need a president who sees himself as president of all the people, not just of those who agree with or vote for him.

More trouble for Great Plains Energy, Aquila deal

Regardless of motivation, Nixon did the right thing on gay marriage

$4 million of gasoline goes up in smoke -- literally

More bad news for KC area motorists: Lightning apparently ignited a tank holding 1 million gallons of unleaded fuel Tuesday night. The resulting fire continued to burn Wednesday, sending $4 million or so of gasoline up in smoke.

Smokers win, Kansas City voters lose

Now we can truly tell our children: A person of any race can become a presidential nominee.

Sen. Barack Obama has secured enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee for the presidency of the United States. As such, he becomes the first African American to head a major party ticket. This moment was a long time coming.
