The KU Jayhawks are NCAA national champions for 2008. Credit great coaching by Bill Self and a shot that will live in KU sports lore forever: Mario Chalmers swished the tying 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds left in regulation Monday night.

Obama's Audacity of Hope--Part 4 (Taxes)

In his chapter on "Values," Obama says, "I consider the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy to be both fiscally irresponsible and morally troubling." It's nice to know the senator finds something morally troubling. Abortion--not even partial-birth abortion--gets a rise out of the man, but talk about wealthy people getting a tax cut and he's filled with moral outrage.

Wednesday's editorial: KU triumphs in memorable comeback

It will be known forever in University of Kansas basketball lore as “The Shot.”

It’s The Shot that KU’s Mario Chalmers made late Monday night to save KU’s hopes.

It swished cleanly through the net, tied the 2008 NCAA championship game with 2.1 seconds left, and made it possible for the Jayhawks to beat Memphis in overtime, 75-68.

Good job on smoke-free law, Kansas Citians

The election was closer than I thought it would be. Closer than it should have been.

But the anti-smoking forces approved a strong smoke-free law for KC on Tuesday, thus repelling Big Tobacco and its misleading, confusing tactics.
