Sunday's editorial: Protect children in polygamous sect

Texas officials have rightly taken action to ensure that hundreds of vulnerable children and teenagers from a polygamous sect are safe from physical, mental and sexual abuse.

There was ample room for concern for these young people in the strange, isolated world of an organization led by Warren Jeffs, who has been convicted of being an accomplice to the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Utah.

Sunday's editorial: Life sciences need more money in Missouri

Encouraging news: Missouri lawmakers have decided that state grant money can be spent on research that benefits people, not just plants and animals.

Discouraging news: There won’t be much money to spend, if the Missouri Senate has its way. Members last week sliced the allocation for the Life Sciences Research Board to a paltry $7.6 million.
